Fuel Tank Emblem

Postby skydrol on Sat Apr 24, 2010 11:32 am

Okay, I need help with some info here. I need fuel tank emblems for my '74 550 and am having trouble locating the right parts. Looking at the parts catalog it shows part #68111-34000. I bought a set of those from ebay (at a very nice price ) but the attachment holes do not line up with holes on the tank. I have come across another part # 68111-33000 may be the correct ones but first of all it is a discontinued part (go figure) and from pictures I have seen of them they have chrome outline with red filled in letters. This does not match any picture I have seen of the GT's. Can anyone help with this dilemma?

I believe the correct part number for the 1974 model 'L' tank badge is 68111-33001, which has the chrome lettering with black infill - this matches what I have on my own 1974 GT550. Both Reproduction decals and Badge Replicas can supply these - both list them as being their part number ST06. 8-) 8-)

That is exactly what I am looking for !! I just needed to ask the right person. Thank you for the info...$47.50 is a little steep for a set of emblems though. At least I know the right part number and where to find them . Thanks a ton !

For clarity - its not $47.50 per set of emblems, its $47.50 for each badge :-( :-( On the plus side, postage is included in that price from Reproduction Decals who price their stuff in USD. Badge Replica prices are in AUD and postage is additional. I buy sometimes from one, and other times the other depending on what the exchange rates against the CDN dollar are - the product is the same, as they both use the same supplier.

Thanks for the clarification. Hmmmm...that makes it almost $100 for a set of badges. If I was doing a show quality restoration I might actually consider it, but as things are I guess I will just make my $30 set work !!

I think that I might have a set...but they are for a 75. Let me know if you're interested and I'll take the time to look. It's easiest if you email me at jeff.kushner@fgould.com , otherwise I might not see your msg for a few weeks. you are right 100 is craxy high for two emblems and to me, it's just a matter of someone taking advantage of someones need. you can contact a gas tank seller on fleabay and ask for just the emblems and chances are, he will sell them to you since GT parts either don't sell or don't get a very high price. you have to get inventive when restoring so your costs don't go through the roof!!
