My 74 project

Ok, Here is the 74 GT550 I found in a shed in Ohio. After shipping it to Texas and making sure it would start, the teardown began.
The whole idea of this project was to do a rebuild on a budget. I would have loved to make this thing a total restoration but the $'s just aren't there for something like this.
Anyway, my son and I have been working hard and we are getting very close to finishing this thing. Will update when we are on the road.

You and your son are doing a great job on what used to be a hunk of rust. You sure had your work cut out for you but it looks like the two of you were up to the task. Don't forget to post when you have it completed. It sure is a good feeling to bring these old bikes back to life. Its a lot more personally rewarding then just writing a check and riding a bike.

Thanks for the encouragement. I spent the weekend coating the fuel tank. I was getting impatient so we rigged up a temporary fuel tank and fired it up on Saturday, I was pleased when it started after a few cranks and ran just fine. We should be on the road real soon!
