Here's the short version: I did not win, I did not crash, I did finish both races. In Formula 500 I took 6th out of 9. In Vintage 3 I got 3rd out of 5. Actually, only 3 started because 2 guys blew up in Formula 500 and couldn't go. I guess I got 3rd out of 3. Practice went well and I started in the 2nd row with about 18 bikes total on the track (including V2). I got a good start and was actually 1st for about 30 ft. I was jetted way too lean and my bike would only rev to about 4000 rpm under load, so I got passed alot the first 1/2 of the race. I kept putting along and I figured out I could run OK at 3/4 throttle so I started catching some of the guys who had passed me on the start. I passed 2 riders on the last lap and ended up 6th. Between races I put in the biggest jets I had (115 mains) and the bike ran good for the 2nd race. I did not ride very well; I was worrying about the bike, not thinking about what I was doing. The one guy I passed (a TZ350) passed me back about lap 4 and ended up beating me by about 1/4 of a lap. The winner of V5 lapped me about 30 yd from the finish line on the last lap. I was scraping my pipes everywhere in the last race because I wasn't smooth and that really slowed me down. I had a blast and everyone at the race was friendly. I can't wait to do it again.
