    First wheel lacing experience... success?

Posted by Kris Larrivee on 5/18/2001, 7:19 pm

I just finished lacing up the front wheel for my racer, (I'll leave the truing to my local shop). After two tries, I finally got it right, I think. I took the 2.15" rear rim from my GT500 and laced it to a Suzi front hub that carries a disc. Not sure what the original wheel was from, the rim was an 18", 1.60" Takasago or something, and the disc bolt pattern, speedo drive, ect. are all the same as a GT500. I've got all the right crosses and the nipples are sitting in the rim holes nicely. Much thanks to Zooke for suggesting the use of the 2.15" rear rim on the front to give me a wider selection of tire choices, quicker steering and to save me some money. I pick up my tires and clip-ons next weekend. Could it be the bike will really see the track this summer? I can hardly wait.
