----o---- Invasion Literature THE GREAT WAR IN ENGLAND IN 1897Published 1894 The Great War in England in 1897 was written by William Le Queux and published by Tower Publishing Co., London in 1894.
Book illustrations not available Depicts the
invasion of Britain by the French with their Cossack allies supported by the
massed ranks of unemployed, idle and alien. The book has been seen as a
contribution to the War Scare that culminated in the Great War of 1914 -
1918, it was a very real contribution to the sensationalising of Foreign
Relations, and a successful attempt to create a fear of the working classes.
William Tufnell Le Queux (1864 - 1927) was a British journalist and
writer. He was also a diplomat, an explorer, a flying buff who officiated at
the first British air meeting in 1909, and a wireless pioneer who broadcast
music from his own station long before radio was generally available; his
claims regarding his own abilities and exploits, however, were usually
exaggerated. |
