Seeing Gallipoli from the sea provides a unique opportunity to perceive the campaign from the perspective serving personnel at ANZAC saw it. All movement to and from Gallipoli was by sea.
It is moving to imagine the ANZACs coming in towards the beaches and sad to realise so many never made it home again.
Equally moving is imagining the same view from the boats when the troops were evacuated and had to leave their dead mates behind. After so much pain, so much struggle and so much discomfort and fear the departure must have been gut-wrenching a well as a great relief.
Many were the troops who were glad to see the last of that place.
